Candle Burning 101

1.       When burning your candle for the first time, you must let it burn long enough to reach the outer edges of the container.  Wax has a memory and will continue to follow the previous melt pattern.  If you never let it reach the edges, it never will.

2.       Trim your wick to approximately 3/8".  If you trim your wick to short it will not stay lit, on the other hand, leaving the wick too long will produce smoke.  Light your candle first, then trim as necessary.

3.       Average burn time suggested is 2-4 hrs.  Allowing your candle to burn all day will produce soot buildup.  If you have soot buildup on your container, don't worry!  Use a damp paper towel and simply wipe the inside clean for your next use.

4.       All candles, especially highly scented ones, will produce some smoke and soot, but proper burning times and correct maintenance of the wick will help eliminate this problem.

5.       Keep wax free of wick trimmings, matches or other flammable objects.

6.       After you are done with your candle for the day, snuff the candle flame out.  We recommend using our exclusive "smokeless wick snuffers.  After snuffing out the flame, trim your wick to the proper length for your next candle burning experience.

7.       Never leave your candle burning unattended, always keep out of reach of children and pets.  Never place near flammable materials.  Avoid drafty areas, including open windows, ceiling fans and heaters.

8.       Always allow candle to cool before replacing lid on jar, trimming wick, or re-lighting.
